2023 Index Top LGBTQ+ Friendly Nations for Global Travelers
In 2023, a comprehensive index evaluated nations worldwide to determine their LGBTQ+ friendliness concerning civil rights, protections, and anti-discriminatory laws. For LGBTQ+ travelers, trip planning often involves extensive research on local attitudes and laws impacting their community. Fortunately, numerous online resources cater to this need, including the 2023 LGBTQ+ Danger Index, a vital survey that ranks countries deemed safest or riskiest for queer travelers.
Recently released by Asher and Lyric, a website promoting international traveler health and safety, the 2023 report assesses 203 popularly visited countries across ten key factors. These include factors such as legalized same-sex marriage, LGBTQ+ worker protections, anti-discrimination laws, criminalization of hate crimes, adoption recognition, and a nation's Gallup score—a measure of residents' perspectives on overall quality of life. It also examines whether same-sex acts are illegal and the presence of propaganda and morality laws in each country.
